# Hacktivism and software art curated by Neural.it (Alessandro Ludovico)
The hacker philosophy (using technology out of conventions and pre-programmed functions to improve personal lifes) is perfectly applied in the underground world of 'hacktivism', or political activism expressed through media actions. This lively maps of collectives and practices often use software to express sarcasm, political statements or a completely different vision of contemporary life. Their critical and conscious use of programming code is art, or as it stated once: 'art is a form of hacking'.
