Artificialia
1. The organization
Artificialia is a non-profit organization promoting and supporting electronic based art in Italy. At the present time this art genre lacks its own established forum in geographical region, therefore, Artificialia main objective will be to establish the basis for the growth of a supportive environment for this art form in Italy. Artificialia, active on the web and on art and science publications since 1998, was finally founded in 2003 to support the Peam2003 event. Peam is an event consisting of an exhibition, a conference and a workshop. During and after this event we will realize if there is both a need and room for a reoccurring Italian forum for new art made with new technology. Then, we will decide if to continue and expand our activities and organize major exhibitions and conferences.
2. Activities
After years of artistic and scientifc publication (since 1998) Artificialia will organize its first exhibitions, seminar and workshops related to electronic based art. At the same time it extabilishes this website to be a useful information source for those who want to learn more about this art form. Artificialia is the organizer of the only Italian Meeting for electronic based and high technological art. The Peam2003, (Pescara Electronic Artists Meeting) will be held in Pescara, centre-east of Italy, where so far there has been no exhibitions. The Peam2003 will also include a conference section, a forum for discussion and presentation of new art. In addition to exhibitions and other public events Artificialia will also act as advisor for those who want know more about the genre we are working for. One of our task will be collecting and redistributing information, continuosly .
3. Electronic based art
Artificialia will focus on Electronic based art. By electronics based art we mean art that involves the use of electronics, in any sense. Art that utilize, electricity, computers, and similar and that cannot be shown or experienced without it. This can be anything from installations controlled by a computer and interactive CD-ROMs, electronics sculptures, robot art, projects based on Internet or local network systems, etc. Artificialia do not exhibits art that is made by the mean of electronic and later transferred to analogue -linear media e.g. non-interactive computer animations on videotape or prints of digitally manipulated photographs. These art forms has several, already established forums, and we will therefore focus our energy on electronic based art
