The Concept

[ENGLISH] Fatherboard, the superavatar is an avatar that - escaping from the virtual worlds (or from the computer generally speaking) - forms into a physical shape. It is similar to cyborgs - but is not a cyborg - and it is made out of the (recycled) hardware components of the computer where it comes from. Fatherboard steps in to the "real world" and starts interelating with the human beings (the audience). The essence of its dialog with humans is to be found in the idea of a confrontation between the "artificial" intelligences and the ones of their creators. The whole show is theoretically based on the concepts expressed in the Polymorphyc Intelligence (see Polymorphyc Intelligence 1, 2) and the Big Sieve theories, by Luigi Pagliarini.

[ITALIANO] Fatherboard, the superavatar è un avatar che - evaso dai mondi virtuali (o dal computer pių in generale) - acquista delle sembianze fisiche. Fatherboard assomiglia ad un cyborg - ma non č un cyborg - ed è fatto dalle componenti hardware del computer da cui si è materializzato. Fatherboard entra a far parte del "mondo reale" ed inizia ad interrelarsi con l'essere umano (il pubblico). L'essenza del suo dialogo con l'uomo risiede nell'idea di confronto tra le intelligenze artificiali ed i loro "creatori". L'intero spettacolo fonda i presupposti teorici sul concetto di Intelligenza Polimorfa (vedi: Intelligenza Polimorfa 1, 2) e la teoria del Grande Setaccio, di Luigi Pagliarini.

The Technique

[ENGLISH] Fatherboard, the superavatar is a mask composed by a steel helmet, a cotton suite, gloves, shoes and a cloak on which hardware components of recycled computers have been installed. Technically speaking, it can be called a "Wearable Modular Robot" (Luigi Pagliarini, 2008) or Superavatar, as the author loves to define it. Indeed, for the ß version mask some of the abovementioned components were integrated with an electronic circuit (in alternative, a preexisting one was used) such as to locally react to the dynamics impressed to the actor's body through the use of one or more sensors.

[ITALIANO] Fatherboard, the superavatar è una maschera fatta di un casco d'acciaio, una tuta di cotone, guanti, scarpe ed un mantello su cui son state installate componenti hardware di computer riciclati. Tecnicamente, può esser chiamato un "Robot Modulare Indossabile" (Luigi Pagliarini, 2008) o Superavatar, com'è che l'autore ama definirlo. Difatti, nella versione ß della maschera, su alcuni dei suddetti componenti è stato montato un circuito elettronico (o usato quello pre esistente) corredato di uno o più sensori che riflettono, localmente, la dinamica inpressa al corpo dell'attore.
